Google Suite - Google Calendar, Drive, and Gmail are no-brainers when it comes to staying organized and keeping your shit in the cloud. Once you want to pay someone, you can automatically link your Venmo or PayPal account and settle up. The app itself is very well designed and "just works". The result is that at the end of the month (or whenever you choose), costs are evened out among roommates and you only pay the difference in what you owe. Venmo is great for this but Splitwise steps in to track who paid for what and does all the math for you. Splitwise (free) - Living with roommates is usually a constant game of tag of paying each other back for random costs. This has made me much more responsible with my money and is an interactive alternative to a spreadsheet. Every time you spend or receive money, you record the transaction in the app and make a plan with what you will do with that money. If you overspend in a category, the app has you move budgeted money from a different category so you break even in the end. The way it works is by inputting your monthly income and/or savings and identifying how much you expect to pay in several categories. It is however free for college students for 1 year. YNAB (You Need a Budget) (paid subscription) - This is a subscription-based web and mobile app that allows for flexible and efficient budgeting. It's simple with a clean UI, and can be accessed via the cloud on all of your devices. Notes can be labeled and categorized, and it's a really good way to organize your thoughts. Google Keep (free) (alternative: Evernote) - I use Google Keep to record all of my non-academic to do lists, goals, and ideas. I use the desktop app ($10) synced with my phone and it works very well. This way you can change due dates, know what exams are coming up, and have everything available in the cloud. Rather than use a paper planner where classes, assigments, and exams get jumbled, iStudiez allows you to input your schedule, teacher's office hours, review sessions, and other academic events along with assignments separated by each class. IStudiez Pro ($1.99) (alternative: My Study Life) - This is one of the best planner apps out there. I have tried many different apps and through trial and error, these are the ones that have stood out to me and made my life easier. Below are some of the apps which have been essential to managing my time and sanity. Juggling school, life, and work during college is stressful and overwhelming.
